E. Sreedharan submitted a Detailed Project Report (DPR) to CM V.D. Satheesan for a new 473.2-km elevated high-speed rail corridor connecting Poojappura (Thiruvananthapuram) to Mundayad (Kannur). Key details: ₹60,000 crore cost, 23 stations, max speed 200 kmph, operational speed 180 kmph, 3.5-hour journey time, green solar-powered corridor. Funding model: 60% (Centre 51% : State 49%) equity + 40% crowdfunding via tax-free bonds. Projected 5-year completion after approvals. Government has expressed favourable stance and will review the DPR before deciding next steps.
